Bitcoin hardware wallets
A hardware wallet keeps your keys on a small dedicated device and asks you to confirm every payment on its own screen. It is the standard way to hold savings.

Beginner Hardware
How to narrow it down
- First hardware wallet: pick one marked Beginner with a companion app for your computer or phone.
- Only bitcoin: a Bitcoin-only device, or a Bitcoin-only edition, runs less code and shows fewer irrelevant options.
- Open source: lets independent researchers check what the device does. Look at the Source code column.
- Choosing between Trezor models: Trezor Safe 3 vs Safe 5 vs Safe 7 compares screen, secure element, iPhone support, size and price side by side.
- Air-gapped: signs through QR codes or a memory card, never through a cable. Useful for advanced setups, not required for most people.
Buying safely
- Buy directly from the maker or an official reseller, never from a marketplace seller or second hand.
- A real device never comes with recovery words already filled in. If it does, it is a scam.
- Write your recovery words on paper or metal, never in a photo, cloud note or password manager.
